MANATEE/SARASOTA– Two new physicians opened family practices today in the Sarasota Memorial Health Care Center at Heritage Harbour. Karen M. Bigby, MD, and Andrew E. Burg, MD, specialize in family practice and provide comprehensive medical care for families and individuals of all ages.
Both physicians will share medical offices on the second floor of Sarasota Memorial’s outpatient medical campus. In addition to physician offices, the Heritage Harbour facility offers an urgent care walk-in center on the first floor, along with a full complement of diagnostic radiology/imaging services, laboratory, rehab, pain management, anti-coagulation clinic and home health services.
The Sarasota Memorial Health Care Center at Heritage Harbour is located at 1040 River Heritage Blvd., Bradenton, about one mile east of I-75, and primarily serves the growing populations in Heritage Harbour and surrounding communities, including Greenfield Plantation, Mill Creek, Braden Woods and Lakewood Ranch. About the Doctors • Karen Bigby, MD, earned her medical degree at the State University of New York-Syracuse and completed her residency at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse. Prior to joining First Physicians Group, Dr. Bigby was in private practice in New York and Florida. She also served as medical staff physician in family medicine for All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg, Fla., and as director of the Family Medicine Center at St. Pete’s Bayfront Medical Center. She is currently a clinical assistant professor at USF-Tampa.
• Andrew E. Burg, MD, earned his medical degree at Universite Louis Pasteur, Strasbourg, France, and served as chief resident during his residency training at University Hospital Stony Brook, Stony Brook, NY. He practiced medicine in Strasbourg and Cote d’Azur, France before returning stateside. Prior to joining Sarasota Memorial’s First Physicians Group, Dr. Burg worked for Pinnacle Medical Group and Lakewood Ranch Primary Care.
