SMH Expands FPG Primary Care Network in North Port

Sarasota Memorial recently welcomed a new primary care physician to the health system’s First Physicians Group (FPG) network and to the community of North Port, Fla.

Dennis Charette, MD, a board-certified family medicine physician, is now accepting new patients at FPG’s Internal Medicine/Pediatrics and Family Practice office. Together with internal medicine and pediatrics specialist Janet Lewis, MD, Dr. Charette provides comprehensive primary care for families and patients of all ages.

Dr. Charette was recruited to the area by Sarasota Memorial for his expertise in family medicine and to help fill the gaps caused by a shortage of physicians in the area.

Prior to joining FPG, Dr. Charette worked as a family medicine doctor for 2 years with Atrium Healthcare in Monroe, N.C., and for 17 years in Ohio, where he helped establish a free medical care clinic for uninsured patients called the Tuscarawas Clinic for the Working Uninsured, and served as its medical director. Since 2003, Dr. Charette has also worked as a family medicine trainer for physician assistant students from Mount Union College and other institutions. He earned his medical degree from Marshall University, where he also completed his residency.

Dr. Charette is seeing patients at FPG’s Internal Medicine/Pediatrics and Family Practice office at 2345 Bobcat Village Center Road, Suite 202, in North Port. For information or appointments, call 941-257-2930.
