With more than 20 years’ experience, thoracic surgeon Paul Chomiak, MD, specializes in using minimally invasive techniques to treat patients with lung cancer, chest and mediastinal cancers, and other thoracic disease.

He combines customized care and leading-edge diagnostic and surgical technologies to achieve the best outcomes for his patients. A key player on Sarasota Memorial Cancer Institute’s multi-disciplinary lung cancer care team, Dr. Chomiak serves as director of Thoracic Surgical Oncology. He also is both an educator and a national expert in robotic bronchoscopy.

Dr. Chomiak’s range of expertise also includes:

  • Robot-assisted thoracic surgery for lung cancer and other thoracic disease.
  • Minimally invasive thoracic surgery techniques.
  • Minimally invasive interventional bronchoscopy: endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS) and endobronchial laser ablation.
  • Patient-centered, personalized care in a multi-disciplinary environment.

Dr. Chomiak, an American Board of Thoracic Surgeons diplomat and a Society of Thoracic Surgeons fellow, is well established as a lung cancer surgeon in the Sarasota-Bradenton-Venice area and across Florida. His office is conveniently located on Sarasota Memorial Hospital’s main campus, near the Tamiami Trail South and Waldemere Street intersection.
